Garter belts are apparently no longer in season.

At least, according to the sale’s lady at Victoria’s Secret when I went shopping for a certain famous Wellesley creative black-tie event. I really didn’t know certain types of undergarments could go in and out of season.

The drummer from Thriving Ivory, Paul Niedermier, went to my high school and had the same band director as me (way before my time though)! Not that I knew about Thriving Ivory until I was reading the facebook page to plan the retirement party for my band director, saw a comment he made about not being able to make it because he’d be on tour, and stalked him online.

Greg Camp from Smash Mouth went to Lynbrook too back in ‘85.

Clearly Lynbrook has more notable alumns than the wikipedia page suggests.

Y I NO HAVE REAL LIFE SKILZ?

Making my first international call ever was something of a learning process.

  1. Learned that I needed to find the country code for New Zealand.
  2. Googled “country code for New Zealand.”
  3. Learned from the first website that I needed to also dial the exit code for America (which is 011) before I dial anything else.
  4. Learned that the country code for New Zealand is 64.
  5. Tried to call using my cell phone and was told by automated message that I don’t have international calling in my plan.
  6. Switched to skype to make the call, and learned that the pay-as-you-go function for calling from computer to phone requires a minimum $10.
  7. Learned that calling the number on the “Contact the Study Abroad and Exchange Team” page brings one to a student phone answerer, who then logs the query, and someone will e-mail the answer back. Hopefully.

I am one step closer to studying abroad in New Zealand! Yay!

There are VMD-PhD programs. As in, veterinary medicine.

Intriguing.
